IBM 15pin to Apple 9pin Joystick Adapter by Manila Gear
The IBM 15pin to Apple 9pin Joystick Adapter was created by Manila Gear in May 2017. It allows the use of an "IBM" Joystick (DB15) on the Apple II computer (DB9).
The adapter and enclosure was designed with multi system use in mind, and provides enough clearance for all adjacent cables that are found on the different Apple II systems.
Project Status: Complete. In production. Actively sold by Manila Gear and ReActiveMicro.
Support: Post on the Discussion page (link above) or email ReActiveMicro Support.
Sales: Visit the ReActiveMicro Store.
History
In May of 2017 the IBM 15pin to Apple 9pin Joystick Adapter project was discussed by John Valdezco of Manila Gear and Henry of ReActiveMicro. Tom Arnold of philosophyofsound.com was no longer able to supply his Joystick Adapter, so John started work on the CAD layout and enclosure design to help fill market demand. The original schematic was created by Jeff Hurlburt. John used it as a guide to create the adapter.
v1.0 of the adapter had some sizing issues. The DB9 connector was found to be a little too far away from the PCB edge, and when installed in an enclosure it would not mate correctly to the Apple II. So v1.1 was produced which resolved the issue.
On September 15th, 2017 the project was added to the ReActiveMicro Store and release for sale.
