I purchased my Apple II (not a plus) in 1979 while living in Japan. Being an avid Ham Radio Operator my primary use for the machine was operating RTTY (Radio Teletype) mode. The Software used was by a chap named Chris Galfo and it had many features that were simply not available using the old Mechanical machine. Plus it was much quieter and the Ham Shack didn't smell like 30 Weight Motor Oil!

Computer Teletype became very popular and software became available for most of the 8 bit machines on the market at that time. But the Apple program stood out as it had many features the others lack.

Chris has said he sold over 2,000 copies (which was a lot for a program in those early days) and since it was not copy protected many bootleg copies were available as well. So the total install base was anyone's guess.

The program is still available and Galfo has now put it in the Public Domain.
